I have partnered with Kevin Dunleavy and Try Foods for the past 15 years on retail Health and Wellness projects. They have enabled me to create consumer education materials that contain timely and accurate information in beautiful handouts and booklets that shoppers love to pick up. The Try Foods staff of professional copywriters, culinary experts and recipe developers truly helps me manage my work load by creating turnkey, high quality pieces that I am proud to put my name on.Shari Steinbach, MS RD – Healthy Living Manager, Meijer Supermarkets
In 2001, I created Produce for Kids®, an organization that has been very blessed to have grown into an industry leading cause marketing program for the produce industry supporting children’s non-profit organizations and educating teachers and parents on the benefits of eating fresh fruits and vegetables. From 2002 to 2008, I worked closely with Kevin Dunleavy. His contribution to helping us build a solid foundation for the organization, both at retail and with our industry sponsors, was critical to establishing the program in the early years.
Kevin’s leadership, networking abilities at retail and to industry sponsors, played an integral role in building retail support for the program. From Meijer to Publix Super Markets, his contacts and ability to sell the program led to securing these reputable partners early on.
From developing a retail base to securing sponsors, Kevin’s contribution to the program has been very much appreciated. His work ethic, working well with the team, and his ability to work through tough situations played an important part of Produce for Kids growing into the organization that it is today. To this day, Kevin and I enjoy a good friendship and I highly recommend him for future consideration.
To date, Produce for Kids has raised nearly $4 million dollars to benefit children’s non-profit organizations through our partnerships with 14 retailers and over 40 participating sponsors. Produce for Kids celebrates its 10th anniversary this year.John Shuman – President, Shuman Produce, Inc.
I would like to take the opportunity to offer a recommendation for Kevin Dunleavy. As the Team Leader of the Co-marketing department at Meijer I have worked with Kevin Dunleavy for the past seven years on a multitude of projects as he has called on our account representing Try Foods International.
Kevin first started working with our company presenting projects focusing on the produce category which later expanded to multiple custom publications, a multi-faceted healthy living program, a wine program and more. His experience and insights in the industry enable him to deliver innovative ideas that fit his customers’ needs. His attention to detail and excellent follow through make any project he brings us turnkey. We collaborate on the initial idea, he follows up with the proposal and from there handles all the project details. I have the luxury of knowing the project will be handled from start to finish with little need for my involvement beyond approvals.
Kevin builds authentic relationships with his clients. He is very enjoyable to work with and is highly regarded with anyone who works with him. Kevin is always upbeat, positive and has a high level of enthusiasm.
I highly recommend Kevin to any company interested in the product he represents. You would be very pleased with what he can bring to you with his knowledge, creativity, and follow up.Deb Lehman – Team Leader Co-Marketing, Meijer, Inc.
With limited experience in the North American grocery and produce categories, Kevin Dunleavy from Super Marketing Promotions was instrumental in providing insights, market intelligence and introductions. Kevin was thoughtful and willing to research the specific needs and data we required to taylor his already extensive industry knowledge into actionable insights for our specific commercial needs. Dependable, articulate, professional and approachable.Peter Davis – National Advertising and Media Manager, Australian Health & Nutrition Association Limited
I have been in the produce industry for nearly 34 years and in that time I have met many wonderful people. One of the things that has been so inspiring to me over the years is just how sincere and honest and genuine people can be when each one is trying to help with a goal to achieve.
That’s where Kevin Dunleavy comes into the conversation for me. I first met Kevin more than 15 years ago when our company was working on developing an in store recipe program to help customers with meal planning. At the time Kevin’s company, Try Foods International was specializing in exactly what we were looking for, and that started a business relationship that has lasted to this day. Although the company is now know as Integrated Marketing Services (IMS) and Kevin has sold his interest in the company he still is someone that I speak to regularly about another passion we both have and that is the Southeast Produce Council.
Kevin and I served together for five years on the SPC Board of Directors and in that time I learned an entirely different side of Kevin. His love for his family, his faith and the Southeast Produce Council. This organization has brought together people from all walks of our industry. One primary goal of the council is to give back for which it has been so richly blessed. Kevin has been instrumental as committee chair of the community outreach program and others. His tireless efforts to make events successful such as Strong 4 Life which is a joint program between the SPC with the Children’s Hospital of Atlanta to teach kids and adults the benefits of a healthy lifestyle thru proper diet and to curb diseases that obesity can bring have been amazing with tens of thousands of kids getting access to fresh produce thru S4L programs. Kevin has a strong passion for health and fitness and his ambition is something that is so refreshing and inspiring to others.
What I can say about Kevin is that he is original, honest, approachable and a very giving person and I am so glad that our lives crossed paths all those years ago, for I am a better person for it.Joe Watson – Director of Produce, Rouses Markets
